A quick update

So, you may have noticed that I'm not posting as much.
It hasn't even been a week but as you might realize I sometimes feel the need to blog a couple times a day if I find I have something interesting enough to talk about.

The past week has been a huge blur. It's not like I even did that much. But I did, at the same time. Good and bad times. Oh well.

Anyway, this is just an apology for not being on. The problem is, I still might not be on much this week. Not that I don't want to blog. But I am trying to make a bunch of little changes in my life, and not drowning on the computer is one of those. I just want to get out and do more. And I'd honestly rather watch a couple of movies with my family or friends then play Soliaire repeatedly or check Facebook for the bazillionth time. On this same note, I am highly contemplating deleting my Myspace. I am usually on for about 30 seconds. Facebook has a lot more going on. It might be time to part with my old original standby. I'm also going to try and make some changes in my professional life. Nothing big, while I look for another job. I am hoping to work in my city once again. The need for gas and what adds up to an hour in the car I spend each time I have a shift is definitely proving to be pointless. So fingers crossed on that!

I hope you enjoyed your weeks/weekends and I hope you continue to enjoy the next.

TV rots your brain…

I am the happiest little camper thanks to so many television shows.

Lost on Hulu (My second time going through the series. I love it so much and highly recommend it.)

Big Bang Theory Season 2 on DVD (I honestly never would’ve thought I’d enjoy it so much. It is light as air but so funny and I looooove the characters.)

Gossip Girl Season 3 airing on The CW (I don’t care if it’s cheesy. It’s also super hot and fun and there is no thinking required.)

And I’ll be anything you ask and more.

How come music is the best thing that ever happened ever? Seriously. No matter how I feel in life, the right song can make me forget about everything shitty in my life.

You’ve probably heard these songs before. They have a familiarity about them (probably because Phoenix’s tune is on a car commercial). Completely different sounds, but I love them both.

I have a lot of pictures, but these were basically my favorites. It was hard to narrow down. And, ok…the last one is from White Castle and you could probably see that anywhere. But if you don’t think it’s hysterical, you have no sense of humor.

Can it be?

Can I make this the beginning of a new chapter? Can I do all the things I want to do and tell myself over and over to do but never actually do?

Time to start making this the best life. Oh…and let go of all the anchors in my life. My mom reminded me today that life is short and that I must make the best of it. And it does fly by. Even the days. I was driving home and in the blink of an eye it had gotten dark.

P.S. I’m headed to NYC tomorrow early for an Of Montreal concert and general fun. Expect lots of pictures. And when I get back, I’ll share my new roll of Holgas.

Good and Bad

Things that suck:

  • Dealing with customers who think they know more than you and are outright rude
  • Mood swings
  • Fickle weather
  • Disrespecting other people’s privacy
  • Looking for a real job in this economy
  • Living at home and not having my own space

Things that rock:

  • Hot dogs with bacon and cheese on a toasted bun
  • Corn on the cob drowning in butter and salt
  • Talking to good friends on the phone for a long time
  • Seeing them in person when I can
  • Knowing that this is only the beginning
  • Having fun with the foolishness in life

comic I’m hungry now…time to snack.

But…R.I.P. Patrick Swayze. What a fighter.

Yet another reason…

Watched the VMA’s tonight. I didn’t even have the intention but when my friend Dana invited the gang over, I couldn’t resist.

What I love about shocking moments in televised events like this is that people immediately turn to Facebook to update their statuses about it. Basically, Kanye West bum-rushed the stage when Taylor Swift was accepting her first VMA ever, which also happened to be the first one given that night. He complained that Beyonce should’ve won and completely ruined Taylor Swift’s moment. He’s a dick. But you should already know this.

But really, Lady Gaga was the one who blew my mind tonight. Though I shouldn’t be surprised. The girl changed her outfit 4 times and each one was disturbing. She walked the red carpet in a bejeweled neck brace and gold Phantom of the Opera-esque mask. Performed in crutches and covered herself in fake blood. Wore a red lace dress that completely covered her face and formed into a crown. Ended the night with I could only describe as a bandage you wrap around your head when you have a toothache, only covered in fur.

Despite all of the creepiness, which, if I find pictures will be updated on here ASAP (See bottom), I can’t help but think she is one of the smartest performers right now. Shock value works. People may complain that she never wears pants, is bisexual, or she’s just plain nuts, but she is selling records and making money. We know her name. We know her face. In less than a year she’s become an icon. Even if her next album fails, she won’t be forgotten for this.

The main point of my blogging, however, is the fact that she is yet another reason that I want more leotards. Of course, I’ll be covering mine up with skirts and pants. But, if I actually had a reason to celebrate Halloween, I might even contemplate dressing as her. I think I could rock it.

I’m workin’ on my follow-through.

One of my main problems is that I have so many great ideas and goals and ways to make my life better and I hardly ever follow through with them.

I’m weak. I worry about what others will think. I worry others will hate me for no reason, or for reasons they don’t even understand because they don’t even bother to know the truth. I care too much about what other people think. Or it’s just so damn hard to change because I’m bored or scared or lonely.

I want to change this so bad.
I have to change it.

In other news, I realized Santogold’s self-titled album (even though she’s considered Santigold now) is perfect summer to fall transition music. Even though her stuff is fun at times, it’s mostly chill, and it fit my rainy drive to work perfectly. What I love the most about this CD is that no song sounds like the other. She goes from rapping to singing ska/new wave in the blink of an eye. Every song is a winner.

I also highly recommend Radiohead’s In Rainbows for this seasonal change. I love all of their music, but this album came into my hands two falls ago, and it fit my mood so well. The music is beautiful, the lyrics have so much truth, and Thom Yorke’s voice never ceases to amaze me.

Good people and good days…

Visited one of my best friends with one of my best friends today. She’s getting her Master’s at Bloomsburg University and is living in a truly adorable one bedroom apartment. I love it. We were only in for a few hours. We ate burritos, walked around the town in the rain, and caught up. We’ll be staying over in a couple of weeks and goin’ crazy for old times sake…I can’t wait!

Pictures of the day…

Fall Forward

060{I love the sunset, I have too many pictures like this}

I had a really lazy, relaxing day today. I hadn’t realized it, but I haven’t been home that much this week. I took a walk around the neighborhood so I didn’t get stir-crazy, and I came up with a great idea for a shoot involving as many of my friends as possible. I will not be revealing it until I actually start to take the pictures.

I’m not feeling very confident in my new hobby these days, but I know that practice makes perfect and I’m really trying to work on that.

I just need to continue to gather inspiration.

And in other news, it was chilly today. Even the sunset looked more fall than summer. I know that summer is still technically  on…but I can definitely feel it ending.

Highlights…

Today I….

  • Bought a sweet new pair of sunglasses for 5 dollars. They fit so good. I’m already planning on a new bunch of photos!
  • Watched Crank: High Voltage. Saw it already and fell in love with it even more. Both movies are amazing…I love Jason Statham
  • Got a 5 dollar Fill-Up box from KFC for 2 dollars
  • Watched Glee and now I have a new show to keep up with
  • Became addicted to Spider Solitaire…oh no (but really oh yes)!

(P.S. Um, did you expect anything different regarding the picture? And I swear I see spots and stripes for minutes after I’m done reading. Make it speedy!)

Mini Post

I’m starting to consider my list posts as mini posts. Instead of updating my Facebook status or having a Twitter, I just write down a bunch of random things that I could never devote a whole post to, despite the fact that I find them important enough to bore you with (run-on…sorry).

  • I can’t stop playing Solitaire on the computer. I think about doing it when I’m not doing it. This is a problem.
  • I was completely and utterly upset last night when I discovered that Tylenol’s Simply Sleep has the same active ingredient as Benadryl. Waste of money.
  • I’ve come to the conclusion that I would have no problem eating sour cream right out of the carton. I have self-restraint…so I won’t. But if someone dared me, I don’t think I would mind. I’m obsessed.
  • My thoughts get so loud in my head sometimes that I completely space out from what I’m doing and I often worry that, when I come back to, I have either spoken everything out loud or I just seem crazy (No one has said anything, so I must be okay).
  • Watched AVP yesterday. I am definitely on the same side as Predator. I mean, yes…the species ruthlessly kills humans instantaneous . But they also seem to get on with humans if they show that they won’t hurt them. I would totally make friends with one and kick Alien ass. Plus…gotta love the dreads.
    pred
  • I love making lists like this about nothing, but last night, after watching The Women (not the best movie, but empowering in a way), I decided to make a list of things that I want out of my life and I found it extremely difficult. Not because I don’t know what I want. Just because it’s hard to make goals and then actually go out and attempt to achieve them.
  • I keep forgetting that I have another roll of Holga prints coming…probably in the next couple of days. I can’t wait to see how they turn out. And of course you’ll see them too.

The Past and Pending…

Today, I got hit with a bunch of old insecurities. Seriously old. Like, remembering the time my 8th grade crush stopped talking to me because a friend of mine (we’re not really friends anymore) told him I liked him against my will. That sucked. Because I didn’t like him because he was cute or something. He sat behind me in nearly every class and made me laugh and talked to me about Friends (I was obsessed in junior high. Still love it, but those were my hay days).

Growing up is so funny. The best and worst part about it is realizing all the mistakes you’ve made and trying to learn from them. No one likes to look back and remember things that hurt them or that they may have done to hurt someone. But you have to because you learn from them.

Even though I hate remembering things that obviously suck, I feel like I’m finally ready to use those things to change my present. I know I’m still prone to screw things up and have my feelings hurt by little things that shouldn’t matter. But I’m excited to use the bad things to lead to the good things.

Despite the fact that I want to grow into myself more, I have no plans for gettin’ old too soon. I still want to have fun and play around…but with the lessons I’ve learned to help me along the way.

Dream

I had a dream that I had a lot of 50 dollar bills in my wallet. I wish that were true. I think I only have 4 ones in there right now. Bummer.

Don’t you hate that? When you’re sleeping and dreaming and whatever you see happen is really good and you wake up abruptly and have to remind yourself that when you open your wallet, there will just be receipts and moths in there?

Weekend

016

So, I actually got off my butt for a little this weekend. Went from work last night to Senunas’ (my old school bar) to meet my friends. Stayed over my friend Tracy’s apartment. So cute and nice and cozy. I liked it. Also, it had been a little over a month since I last saw her and I used to live with her and see her everyday, so it was nice to finally have a reunion.

Obviously, we drank and it was fun. But I don’t really go past 2/3 beers these days and that would be about once a week max, so my stomach wasn’t too happy with me today. I had dreams about drinking glass after glass of water and iced tea because I was so thirsty. Boo.

Today was nice, too. Breakfast at S&W. Sunday Matinee. Bonfire at friend’s whom I hadn’t seen in 2 years.

Unfortunately, my Labor Day weekend is cut short due to the fact that I will be laboring tomorrow (as I do every Monday night). I don’t mind working. I like my job. And I need the money. But I’m still bummed regardless.

And…side note. I don’t know if you still read my blog, but I still read yours. And it still hurts my eyes. You should fix that. K, bye.

Songs and Stories

Two of my favorite songs of all time are by the same artist: Cursive.

I enjoy their music overall, but it’s these two songs that keep them in a list of favorites. Both are so in depth and intense and involved that I can imagine each story unfold.

Because of this song, I never see Pinocchio the same way. But it’s not a bad thing. I love the story it creates in my head.

I do love “Driftwood” but “The Recluse” is pretty much my favorite song of all time. I could listen to it on repeat for hours. Or one hour. And I’ve actually done it before (teehee). I built this whole story around the song. I love that a beat and some amazing lyrics can paint a picture in my mind. That truly makes a good song.

I’m going to put some more thought into it and compile a list of my favorite songs. I’ll share them with you soon.

Listy

I find that I do my best posts when I ramble on in a big list about things I like or don’t like. Things I feel. Things I think. I might not be the best at composing a post that might as well have been torn out of a novel, but I feel that what I write is authentic, and that’s what I’m trying to do here. I don’t want to pretend to be something I’m not. My life isn’t perfect or poetic. It’s good or it’s bad, depending on the day. I worry or I could care less. I am active or I’m laying in my bathrobe debating which movie to watch next.

  • I can’t stop watching the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall these days. No joke, I put it on every night before bed this past week. And I still feel the need to finish it the next day everyday. I don’t know why I love it so much. But I do.
  • People have told me all too often that I’m pessimistic. I think that happened because I always think that the greatest things will happen and I tend to get let down. But is it so bad to have high hopes? It’s what keeps me going. Obviously, over time, they’ve fallen. But it is good to believe you deserve the best out of a situation. It helps you move on…because you really do.
  • I hate how I’ve felt the whole second half of the summer. I hate that I’ve reverted. I hate that I get annoyed easily. I hate that I pick out flaws constantly. I want to be carefree again.
  • I am obsessed with tacos yet again, specifically with sour cream. I don’t know why I never tried sour cream before. I don’t know why I don’t try a lot of things really. Most of time, especially with different sauces and dressings, I love them after I try them.
  • I am scared of the future. I let that hold me back. The unknown is so frightening. You’re lying if you pretend that it doesn’t bother you.
  • I’ve rented the movie Bonnie and Clyde three times this summer and I have yet to watch it. I don’t even know if I can get myself to watch it. It’s sitting right next to me and I’ll still probably pick something else.
  • I’ve found yet another camera to swoon over. This will probably be the one (at least until the next “one”). Canon Powershot SX110 IS. 10x optical zoom. 9 MP. Manual settings galore. Reasonable price. And, of course, the fact that it’s a Canon.

That’s all for now.

Freedom

I feel bad for all them buggers that are stuck at school.

Thursday was gorgeous, and instead of spending a few hours in a classroom or campus or worrying about homework, I got to shop at King of Prussia and spend my day out and about doing whatever I so choose.

Though I love the huge mall, I hardly ever buy things there. I get so intimidated by the expensive stores. But I prefer to hold onto my money for things I really love anyway.

Even though I did buy one thing (I love that each item is so unique at the store. I have the purple/nude bra too, but my tie-dye is completely different.)…haha.

In other news, my weekend might actually be a good one. I don’t always have plans, especially not ones that involve spending the night at a friend’s house with a bunch of other friends and doing fun things. So…YAY!

Studious

Today was a nice day.

Spent most of it out with my aunt. We ate lunch at Taco Bell and shopped around the Hometown Auction, which was nice. I got a bunch of little hair knick-knacks, a pretty necklace, and a crazy pair of glasses that inspired a mini-shoot.

I’m sharing the photos below, but I want to redo this when I can have a hand in positioning these better, maybe have a better setup (I’m thinking a desk) and it might even be fun to have another nerdy study buddy.022 (2)

I’m most definitely a nerd. With or without the glasses.

But I’m very into conceptual photos these days. I want in-the-moment shots, but I also want to start setting things up. Telling a story. Hopefully, with some work, I’ll get better!

Can’t read my, can’t read my…

I learned how to play poker today (after a Chinese buffet trip…I definitely could’ve done more damage. Next time…).

I like fun days with friends.
