The Good Stuff

Thoughts and things that make the crappy parts of the day worthwhile…

  • I like buying slouchy, soft tees one size larger.
  • I bought pink, purple, and blue bob wigs for no real reason except maybe a rainy day and photographic possibilities.
  • It took a while, but pumpkin pie is now a beloved dessert to me.
  • The Instagram app is so very addictive and fun and I wish everyone I knew had an iPhone and an account (it’s free!).
  • I want to carve my pumpkin, mostly because I want to roast the seeds.
  • Today was the first day I put on a full face (for me) of make up (this means lots of mascara and some eyeliner, on top of the usual wash of bronzer and blush) and wore my contacts since the surgery and I finally felt like me again.
  • I love little, girly, plastic barrettes you can get at the Dollar Tree. I recently got a bunch of pastel bows. I can only do this for a little while longer…I’m gonna milk it.
  • The sound of the Rebel XSi shooting is worth the money I paid alone. It is one of the greatest sounds in the world, I’m sure.
  • Good hair day = happy.
  • I have finally been on a regular communicatory relationship with one of my dearest bestest friends and that makes me happy lots.
  • I love randomly picking a playlist and then hearing songs I haven’t listened to in forever or completely forgot about. Yay.

Random floral pictures taken with the Rebel. I have so much to learn still. So much to do. Can’t wait to take it on more adventures. Lovely.

Lady Looks

When boredom strikes, I love to turn to Lookbook and get inspired. Lately, I’ve been drawn to classic, preppy, casual, girly styles.

And, I also love this chic scarf/bow thing going on:

Something about me and headbands/bandanas/scarfs don’t mesh for very long. I must have a slippery or odd shaped head…

The end of the road…

Well. Here it is. The week is over. Back to normal again. Work. The real world. I DON’T WANNA GO!

I just wanted to give thanks to all the people, places, and things that made this week possible.

I would not have survived if it weren’t for…

  • My iPhone. My access to the outside world. I did everything on this, from Facebooking to playing games. What a wonderful little gadget.
  • The Big Bang Theory season 3 on DVD
  • Soup, especially my grandpop’s pastine!
  • Jell-O
  • Straws
  • Tumblr
  • Instagram (Highly addictive photo app for iPhone)
  • Scott Pilgrim Volumes 1&2
  • Brad, for taking me out of the house for a day and cuddling and watching Skins with me
  • My friends, for coming over and playing Life with me and supporting me all the time
  • My family…the best ever. For buying me popsicles and helping me do simple things I normally don’t need help doing and making me laugh and making being stuck in the house the most fun week I’ve had in a long time. This is the part I’ll miss the most.

Yeah…I know, I know. My life didn’t change much. And it won’t change when I go back to the grind. But this ended up being the most amazing vacation for my brain (which is already hopping back into it’s usual schedule of worrying) and body.

I cannot wait to breathe easy again after Tuesday’s check up.

A little shoot.

Went for Chinese and a little shoot at the park with Ed. I know, I know…he’s like…my only model. I am really hoping to expand. But usually, people want to do it and then never have any free time (or I don’t!). Hopefully that will change soon. But this shoot was just what the doctor ordered. I got to play with my new macro lens and I was very pleased with the results. I’ve been fretting since the big purchase, but I know it will only get better…

The foliage is really starting to fade. It’s in full bloom, but a lot of the trees are getting bare. I’m not ready for super cold weather and gray days. Oh, if only fall would stick around a little longer!!!!!

Holiday Spirit

My sister gets a little excited about the holidays. Like…every holiday. It’s just in her nature. She loves decorating as it is, but throw a special day in there and she is obsessed. I have to admit, I like that about her. Because then everyone gets into the spirit.

All the little things she did around the house.

I have no idea what I’m doing for Halloween yet. I finally settled on a costume and then they didn’t have it. Just my luck. I got something else, but as always, my main priority is comfort, and I am not sure if I feel comfortable with it. We’ll see…

Regardless, happy holidays everyone! I have yet to carve the pumpkin I purchased last week…maybe tomorrow.

Ombre.

I am not one to get my hair done. I’ve dyed my hair about 3 times. Nothing ever seemed real or different or permanent. And I’ve always had someone do it for me out of a box.

I guess there are a couple of reasons I don’t really care for dye jobs. First, you never know what to expect. I was created this way, with this hair color, for whatever reason. It was meant for me…boring as it may be. So, if you do something different, it might not look right for you. Second, there’s a lot of upkeep involved. You need to have money and time, and usually I don’t have much of the former even if I do have the latter, to keep it the same color all around.

Sometimes, though, you just feel…blah. Like you want a change. Or something to warm you up. So, this whole bayalage trend really hit the spot…

I don’t see myself rushing to the salon anytime soon to get this done. But when it’s done right, it’s such a flattering look. And there’s no need for touch ups! Seems like a “One and you’re done” sorta deal. Right up my alley.

The Good, the Bad…

Only two more days left of this sweet freedom. It’s been a very quick week. I can’t believe everything is over…as always, anxiety for nothing…

Obviously, this week was bittersweet. Shall I recount the reasons? Okay, then.

The Bad:

  • No breathing through my nose
  • Terrible headaches
  • I can’t smell anything and, therefore, can barely taste anything
  • Too tired to do anything active/productive
  • No makeup or cute outfits
  • No Wine Country this weekend, epic bummer
  • Careful hugs and kisses
  • Not sure how well the surgery went still…because I can’t use my nose!

The Good:

  • Tons of rest
  • Jell-O
  • Spending time with my family
  • My iPhone (I’ve been glued, it’s been my access to the outside world when I don’t want to get out of bed, one of the greatest purchases of my life)
  • Scott Pilgrim graphic novels
  • An excuse to stay in pajamas all day
  • Skins and Louie (I can’t imagine a world without Netflix, let alone sick days)
  • Drinking through straws
  • My brain shutting down and being worry-free for once
  • Letting your imagination run wild

It’s going to be a sad day, Monday.
A very sad day, indeed.

Holgas

The next round is black and white. Hope they turn out nice. I always like getting them developed. I tend to forget what I took or when they would be from…

And sometimes, they look so great and it’s such a pleasant surprise.

It just fascinates me…

Down Time.

051 {Flowers from the ‘rents.}

Everything went well! Just a small update. And I received these pretty flowers today from my parents. Yes, I live with them, so the fact that they were delivered is funny…but…they still made my day!

Back to resting, relaxing, lounging, and recuperating.

The weekend…

Another perfect fall weekend. Thank goodness for blue skies, fall foliage, and kind weather. I’m so glad that it’s been tolerable to be outside. That’s the most important thing for me…I’m not ready to get cold!

Saturday, I had work, but then I headed to Brad’s right after to get ready for his brother’s wedding reception. He and his wife got married back in the spring, but since they live out of state, the family didn’t get to celebrate. It was a great night and I had fun, but I had to watch everyone around me get drunk…bummer.

Then, Maria, Josh, Brad, and I headed to Maylath’s (like Maria and I did last year) to look for pumpkins and get festive. I just want to use my camera as much as possible. I still have so much to learn…and a macro lens arriving in the mail sometime this week…

Good day. All I needed, and I got it, was a distraction. Tomorrow is the surgery. No big deal. No real need to worry or stress. I’ve been good with forgetting about it. And in about 12 hours, I’ll be coming out the other side.

If I don’t update for a few days, you’ll know why. But since I have a whole week to recuperate, I’m sure a lot of it will be spent on the computer. So…see ya soon!
