.99 cent iced coffees from Dunkin’ Donuts to start off the day.
The neighbor’s lilac bush.
Cherry Blossoms on a walk.
3 with everything from Abe’s Hot Dog.
A dress, a bracelet, and 5 new nail polishes (I told you I’m obsessed!) I purchased.

Yesterday was beautiful. Sunshine. Heat. Iced coffee sipping and reading on the back porch. Sunglasses. Flowers. Oscillating fans and no lights to keep cool indoors. Late night dinner with people I love.
It was hard to go back to normal today.

Photos From a Day Off

monday1

I had a very satisfying Monday. I love a long weekend. It’s a bummer when Brad and I don’t have the same time off, but it’s also nice, too. I get to lounge around in PJs, chat with my family, and take lots of time to myself to relax and catch up on little things I’ve neglected in favor of my social life. It’s also really important to me to sleep as long as I can handle it.

Reasons yesterday was so great:
A solid night of sleep
An omelet and yummy Mudslide coffee for late breakfast
Dog sitting Artie, the cutest little pup in the world
Taking photos for my sister’s soon-to-be style blog
Homemade Haluski made by my sister
My first (successful and yummy) doughnuts from the Babycakes
Getting my family into The Voice

Now I only have 4 working days keeping me from another lovely weekend.
Here we go…

Only the beginning…

I had a fantastic weekend. I am definitely not ready for it to end. We were blessed with gorgeous weather here in NEPA, and for once I truly believe there will be many more great days like these.

I am thankful for pools and rafts and fruity cocktails.

I am thankful for Bud Light Lime and catching up with friends.

I am thankful for the bit of sun I caught, that I didn’t burn, and that I don’t really need to wear makeup in the summery months.

I am thankful for warm nights and the first fireworks show of the season.

I am thankful for beach towels, new music, and books in the sun and the smell of sunscreen.

I am thankful for sleeping in.

I am thankful for the Fireworks setting on my Canon.

Hope that, no matter what you did, you had fun and shut your brain off. I know I did that for once…

Thank you, Memorial Day

So, I love that my job allows me to get certain holidays off. Because of this, I will be enjoying a 3 day weekend. I should’ve inserted “much-needed” in there. I cannot wait to sleep in, primarily. But also, to be out, take pictures with my new film, eat lots of good food, watch TV, lay around, wear some of the new skirts and dresses I got but never fully got to bust out. Be around friends. And family. So much good.

I hope I have plenty of pictures to show you at some point, of the good times I have. Or some good stories. And if you have a long weekend (or even just the regular type), I hope it’s great!

I’d Much Rather

sc000b938d

It just so happens that nearly every beautiful day in the week happens to land on a day I’m trapped at work for 8 hours. Luckily, it sort of lingers once I get home. I am currently blogging on the back porch in a comfy romper, with the sun shining. Even though I am still enjoying the warmth and golden glow of one of nature’s greatest Vitamin D sources, I couldn’t help but think of all the stuff I would’ve rather been doing during those pesky hours between 9 and 5.

  • waking up late, opening the window, and eating breakfast in bed while watching 30 Rock or a movie
  • laying out on a blanket with a glass of lemonade and a good book or magazine
  • taking one or all of my cameras out for a nature walk
  • heading to the park for a picnic
  • driving some place new and exploring

Vacation will be nice. And short…but nice. At least I have a 3 day weekend this weekend. I’m looking forward to it. I’m not wishing for it to come quickly, though, because I know it will leave then, just as fast.

Joyeux

IMG_0001{I love our backyard too}

I love spring. I love the month of May. It’s been easier to see the bright side when the sky is actually blue. Even when it’s rainy and gray, the trees are such a brilliant green. It blows my mind. I am in love with the Earth. The world. The universe. Everyone. Most importantly, I’m happy that the next two weekends will be work-free, which is a blessing for so many reasons and especially because I had to work the last two Saturdays. I am excited to use some free passes to Knoebels I scored from work, turn my alarm off, celebrate a friend’s birthday, and of course celebrate Mother’s Day with the family.

Other things I love…

  • Reading. Thank God I can get away with it at work during downtime. I love the way my mind drowns into the material. I am a film geek through and through, but books will always be a much more engaging experience in the end. I go in and out of reading fits, but I truly hope I keep it up this time around.
  • All of my cameras. I’ve been trying to give them equal time, and even though I wanna use them all up, I’m trying to save them for the best pictures and look back and marvel at the photos I forgot I took.
  • Delicious food (tacos with tons of sour cream) , even if it means standing in line for over 90 minutes to get it.
  • Rediscovering music you loved once before but pushed aside for new stuff.

I hope I have some great pictures to show you this weekend. I am excited to see my sister and cram my 2 days of freedom with tons of fun. I hope everyone gets to do the same!!!

So close I could taste it…

IMG_3490This week has been one of the longest, despite the fact that I took a half day on Tuesday. Maybe it’s because I only had one full day to enjoy the weekend…I dunno. Needless to say, I cannot wait for it to be Friday, or, more importantly, 5:40 PM Friday. I am desperate for my tiny bit of freedom. 2 days without work. Unfortunately, it seems my freedom comes with a price. It will be raining tomorrow night and pretty much the rest of the weekend. But I suppose that will be all the better for lounging around. I don’t have plans yet and I don’t know if I will, but I’m very okay with an open schedule…

Tomorrow, my sister comes home and I am always happy when she does. We’re catching a late viewing of The Runaways and probably getting some drinks afterwards. I don’t really care what we do…it’s pretty much always a good time and I always end up laughing to the point of tears/choking/asphyxiation. I don’t know if that is really a good thing, but I enjoy myself.

I do wish the sun would shine for me though…

Happy Weekend!

On Wednesday, I attended my last class at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA ever. I still have a final to take on Monday and a project to finish up hopefully by then as well (though its due on May 8th) but I don't have to sit in a classroom listening to lectures or gathering anymore assignments for 50-75 minutes anymore.

Completely avoiding the nostalgia and bit of sadness I feel realizing this, I haven't had a strict schedule to follow since Wednesday. I have two full weeks of freedom. That means lots of time to hang out with friends, relax, and be rediculous at all hours of the day. Yesterday I woke up late (after an incredible night at a friend's apartment, where we stayed until 4 AM drinking, talking, and of course, laughing...hopefully I'll have a few pics to share soon)and the only thing I made a point to do was see Crank High Voltage.

Speaking of which, Jason Statham...you are quite a man and, in fact, the man. I have had plenty of celebrity crushes (Ranging from Seth Rogen to Zac Efron) and Jason Statham makes all of them seem like little wussies. I mean, after you look at someone like that...how can you settle for less?

I can't begin to explain that he's not really the type I tend to fall for...I used to love tall skinny brown-haired boys. I've noticed though, that my type is changing all the time. In the end, liking someone or finding them attractive...it's probably best to stay away from typecasting. Take the man in for whoever he is.

And in Jason Statham's case...its pure sex and masculinity...I think anyway...teehee.

Anyway, I am a lady who doesn't typically go for the explosion-filled, gun-slinging crap in every action film. But the Crank movies are worth checking out, and not just for his hotness. They're strange, out of control, and are solely based on adrenaline and electric charge that's all about running around and doing insanely strange and often hysterical things to stay alive. If you want a good action flick without all the computer talk and bullshit, go see these. I promise you won't regret it.
