Saturday

I know it’s Wednesday and I’m only just getting to the weekend now, but I came down with a crazy cold/allergy attack that knocked me out until yesterday. I took a sick day on Monday and, while I often beat myself up and feel guilty about it, I’m so glad I did. I’m not 100% yet, but I think we underestimate the power of bed rest and hydration when we are sick. I hope to be up to full-speed by the weekend…fingers crossed!

Anyway, Saturday (what little there was of it) was crazy. Maria, Lauren, and I headed off to Philadelphia for the Foals concert.
If you don’t listen to Foals, please start to do so. Their music is beautiful and I was astounded at the live show.
Yannis’s voice is just as amazing in person and the whole band puts a lot of passion into the performance.
I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not saying I thought they were going to be bad, by any means. They were just that good.
We also hit up Cantina Dos Segundos, which is one of my sister’s favorite spots in Philadelphia.
I had never been, but I already want to go back. They have a variety of  margarita flavors and the food…yeah.

I may have suffered throughout the day and spent Sunday and Monday in bed, sleeping on and off,
but it was a great Saturday, and I couldn’t have asked for better people to spend it with!

It’s hard to take pics at a concert. I just want to enjoy the show.

Last Friday

We have already made it to the last stretch of the week. Usually I’m happy about this, but MY WORD! The days have been going by especially fast lately. Ouch. Last weekend is still so strong in my mind. I can’t shake the wonderful experiences I had. I only hope for more in the future.

I don’t always lug the Rebel with me, but I’m so glad I did. The pictures are a little sloppy…mind you the show didn’t even start until 10 and I danced my butt off until about 2 am, so I wasn’t really concerned with quality. But the fact that I can come back to these pictures and remember the fantastic music and carefree feel of the night really is worth so much to me…

My Weekend in Photos

It’s funny. Work could suck all week, I could be grumpy or tired, but no matter what my weekend is always pretty great. Even if it’s simple. Or complicated. I just wish it would decide to stick around a little longer for a change…

smoothies Dinner and Get Him to the Greek with Brad on Saturday. Started off the night with a large Wildberry Banana smoothie (shared) from Sheetz. Yum.

Food at Cosi, gelato at Capogiro, sore feet, beautiful (hot) weather, and an amazing show played by The Morning Benders and Broken Bells. I officially have a crush on Chris Chu. Sad I didn’t make more of an effort to meet him at the merch booth in between sets. But it was a blast regardless. Great music, great people, great summer days.

Morning Benders

Back in September, I ventured to NYC/Brooklyn with my sister and some of her friends. We crashed at one their high school friend’s apartments, and I woke up in the morning to The Morning Benders’ cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. I fell in love and annoyed my mom by playing the song repeatedly. Then I kinda pushed them aside.

Now that they have a new album out, I have been listening to everything I can get my hands on of theirs, and I can truly say I love this band. I am so excited to see them open for Broken Bells. I almost feel like it’s not real….that’s how bad I want to see them! Do you ever feel like that? Like, I feel like maybe they’ll back out and I won’t get to see them because it almost seems unreal that they will be playing a show and I will be in that room, listening and probably falling even more in love. Concerts are amazing…

The Foreseeable Future

Now that I’m out of college (I’m saying that like it hasn’t almost been a whole year), I feel a little…lost. I have a job (even if it isn’t my dream job) that keeps me occupied 40 hours a week. I have friends to hang out with during my down time. But otherwise, I have no idea where my life is going to take me, and it’s a little freaky. There are all those little milestones (getting my own place, getting married, starting a family…) that I suppose are expected of me. But who knows when or if they’ll even happen?

Anyways, I’ve decided to always have something to look forward to, even if it’s just something small. So far, I’ve bought tickets to three concerts. The first is April 25th, to see Hot Chip. I’m so excited. I’ll be spending the whole weekend in Philly, catching up with some friends, and hitting the town with my sister and her friends.

Broken Bells is June 6th. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Then Kings of Leon for my second time, August 5th, with my BFFFFFFFFFFF Rafter. The show is in Camden, and we only got lawn seats, but I’m excited to tailgate and dance to one of my absolute favorite bands. It also happens to be during my scheduled paid vacation, another thing to look forward to.

Nine days without work in the beginning of August to enjoy the summer and relaxation…

So far, the planning ahead is working. I love having things to look forward to.
