Outfit: Engagement Shoot Casual

 IMG_0216

I spent my Saturday morning shooting some of my best friends’ engagement photos. I’m very happy to be contributing to their special moment, and the beautiful weather made it that much more awesome. We have some wonderful photos to share but I don’t want to until they see them. Regardless, here is my outfit from the day. The weather was fickle, so I relied on the shorts and sweaters philosophy.

A Beautiful Weekend (in more ways than one)…

We were blessed with positively gorgeous, warm, and clear weather this weekend in NEPA. To up the ante, I also happened to have an incredible weekend, good weather or not. I was blessed with an excellent engagement shoot, a beautiful pair of vintage shoes, the perfect date night with my boo, a portrait shoot, and finding more accoutrements for my Halloween costume (I really hope it turns out well). I have SO MUCH to share with you guys this week, but for now, a little iPhone compilation of the weekend…

I am lucky enough to have this day off. I am so thankful and excited for a shorter week. I have to work Saturday, but it matters very little. I get to see Minus the Bear for the 3rd time…they are one of my favorites! I can’t wait to share more pictures with you!
Here’s to an EXCELLENT week. Enjoy every single day given to you! (I’m trying to lately!)

A Girl’s Gotta Do…

I couldn’t be more thankful that the weekend is almost here, but I have come to realize that I adore Thursday nights. They are usually filled with lounging, blog-reading, music, creative endeavors, and some of my favorite shows (this and this and this). I decided to document my night via pictures, so, here we go…

I know the weekend will only get better after this day. Two portrait shoots (an engagement shoot for some dear friends and a portrait shoot as well), dinner and a movie with my super-cute and amazing best friend/boyfriend, and Monday off. Can a girl ask for anything more? (Ok, a job I love or to never have to work a day again…but I’ll take what I can get!) Here’s to Friday, folks.

Have an excellent weekend, as always, my people!!!

The Bright Side

IMG_0804

The last couple weeks have been exhausting. Not exactly horrible, but they’ve been tough on the mind/body/soul. So it’s always good to step back and think about all of the beautiful, happy, and wonderful things in life. Here’s a list of my favorite things at the moment…

Singing loudly in my car to super random songs on shuffle (see here and here and here)
Expecting and receiving packages in the mail (Rarely a week goes by without clothes or books arriving at my doorstep)
Preparing my Halloween costume, even though I have no clue where I’ll be wearing it
Three day weekend is OH-SO-CLOSE and very necessary
My kind of Fall weather is finally here (minus the 80 degree temp in there)
Dinner Reservations and 50/50 for date night on Saturday
A stockpile of wine to last me through the holidays
Knowing that, despite everything, I’m making steps towards changing my life/situation

It always feels nice to remember the better things in life…ahhh….

And, total and completely irrelevant sidebar, but I wanted to pay my respects and say Rest in Peace to Steve Jobs. As you can tell on the blog, I am completely and utterly obsessed with my iPhone. I don’t know one person who doesn’t own an Apple product. And, it may sound ridiculous, but the iPhone changed my life. It brought organization, creativity, and easy communication in the sleekest and most wonderful little package. The iPhone only further strengthened my passion for photography, for capturing the little moments in my life. I am thankful that such a smart man gave us amazing, trustworthy, and reliable products, things that changed the world. It is a sad day, and I wish him peace, as I know that he had been sick for quite a while. Thanks so much, Steve! You will not be forgotten.

Labeling

Wine tasting is an excellent activity (can I stress how much I enjoyed this past weekend enough?) and can really help suss out your tastes. I’m still a fairly young “drinker” because I’m only legal for 3 years and spent most of my drinking days with cheap beer. It’s only recently that I’ve opened my palate to fancier beers and wines. And wine is a complicated thing. Dry, Semi-Dry, Sweet, Semi-Sweet, Red, White, Blush, Rosé… It’s rather overwhelming. During the course of my 48 hour wine splurge, I realized that, though I don’t enjoy super dry and oak-y wines, I don’t like them too sweet. I do not discriminate by color…I love them all. I also realized that a super cute bottle is often what may ultimately seal the deal. Perhaps that’s judging a book by it’s cover…but often what’s inside is as delectable as the outside.

(Sidebar: I didn’t really have intentions to solely use my iPhone to take photos but I’m glad it’s all I used. It was too icky, rainy, and risky to use my DSLR.
I know it’s been a Hipstamatic overload lately!)

October

089

I know I’m a few days late in announcing this, but October has arrived! I think it might be one of my favorite months of the year. The weather is a great mix of warm days and cool nights, the fall foliage is in full effect, pumpkin-flavored EVERYTHING pops up, and Halloween decorations abound. When I was growing up, I sorta found Halloween to be lame. Now I couldn’t be more excited to dress up (when I finally decide on an outfit, of course), even if I have no idea what I will be doing to celebrate the holiday. This year, I’ve known what I want to be for a LONG time. I’m starting to gather the bits and pieces, but I will be keeping it a secret for a bit on the blogosphere until it’s perfect.
Sorry, folks.

The picture above has quickly become one of my favorite Hipstamatic shots ever. It perfectly captures that beginning-of-fall feeling and will always remind me of my amazing weekend in Seneca (rain be damned).

“Uncork New York!”

113

This is where I spent my weekend. It was insanely fun. We didn’t have the best weather (gray skies, rain, chilly) but that didn’t really matter. We stopped at a ton of wineries (I bought 13 bottles…none of which I will be able to drink anytime soon…) and had some pretty great meals.

It doesn’t hurt that we also slept 10 hours Saturday into Sunday. We needed it, after the 4ish hours we got the night before (worth it, for my first paid photography gig and a really fun and adorable wedding).

Let the pictures commence. When I plugged my phone into the computer, I had 129 photos waiting to be transferred. That’s a personal record, in terms of iPhone, Hipstamatic, and Instagram photos.
