That Time I Made a Choice

kindle_02

For the last little while, I’ve been juggling with the same dilemma. I wrote about it back in November, and it’s been a consistent question in my mind. Ultimately, it was the tax return season that helped me make the choice. And a couple of answered questions and opinions and weigh-ins from the people who know me best. That’s right folks…

…I got a Kindle Fire! I seriously thought about this over and over, weighing all my options. There are several different versions of the Kindle, so I had some choices. Ultimately, I settled on the Fire. It’s an E-Reader and Android Tablet all in one! I haven’t had it for more than a week, but I simply adore it. I can watch videos, look at color graphic novels and magazines, surf the web, and stream music.
And, of course, I can download books in seconds and read right away.

It will definitely take some getting used to reading on the Kindle. I am finishing a book at the moment, so I have yet to actually start one of the books I purchased in my first few days owning le Kindle bebe. I’m excited to start!

I know E-Readers are kind of a sensitive subject. Though the people I know who have Kindles/Nooks really like them, there are just as many people I know who think it’s practically offensive to own one if you truly love books. I get it. I really do. I will always love books. And I still plan on buying books. There are some authors I truly love, some books I truly love, that need to have a place on my future bookshelf to be shared and seen. But for now, I’m happy to embrace this bit of technology. I think it’ll be a great purchase in the long run.

Special credit to my boyfriend for taking/editing these photos that look a whole lot like legitimate Kindle ads haha.

Decisions…

So, although I’ve wanted this for a while now, I think it’s high time that I purchase a DSLR. This is a HUGE deal for me. I could wait and get it for Christmas, but honestly, I just don’t feel like sitting around waiting for someone to do this for me. I’m nervous to make the jump, but I want to.

dslrDon’t get me wrong. I love the point and shoot I have. But…I don’t know. I still feel like it holds me back in terms of depth of field. And, if the lighting is off, I’m left with something washed out or too dark.

I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself. I’m still trying to figure that out. But cameras have changed my life. I never had a hobby before. Something that made me happy, no matter what else I was doing with my life. And it’s not like I’ll never use the thing. Regardless of whether or not I end up doing something photographic, I want to capture memories and moments as best as possible and always. And I’ll still want to share them with the world. And I’d like them to be the best that they can be.

If I finally take the plunge…well, you’ll see…

Life’s Great Questions…

stupidcloset
It’s an age-old dilemma. And it usually takes a very long time to solve it. “What should I wear?” I’m serious. What do I wear for the day when I have so many things that I love and that often don’t get enough play? I have so many options. Do I want to be laid-back or flirty? Comfy or sassy? Jeans, leggings, or tights? T-shirt, sweater, or dress? I have two dressers and one closet filled with clothes (speaking of which, I should get rid of the pieces I grew out of/won’t wear), not to mention a pile to put away sitting on my bed. Since I don’t get to wear most of my clothes for work, the weekend is the one time I get to express myself completely (don’t worry, I still manage to look like me on the job). How frustrating to decide…

Also at the top of the dilemma list is what to listen to, especially when there are so many amazing artists with so many great albums and songs and how can you choose just one?

Decisions, Decisions

americanapparel

Let me preface this article by saying I had to find a picture to post above that was at least somewhat appropriate.

Sophomore year, I did a group project for a graphics class in which we had to create a small ad campaign of sorts. My group decided to, for some strange reason (perhaps because we are strange), do an ad for tube socks.

Whilst looking for pictures of tube socks, I stumbled upon these bad boys and immediately fell in love. It wasn’t long until I started looking at the website everyday, admiring all of the funky and sexy basic pieces American Apparel had to offer. Now, I am a bargain shopper, so spending over 20 dollars for a flimsy V-Neck doesn’t seem like a bright idea. However, I have accumulated pieces over the last year or so and I only hope to continue it’s growth, but with pieces I don’t feel I can find anywhere else or that I can’t live without.

Now, the point of this post is…
A 50$ gift card for AA has recently come into my hands. And I’m having a hard time choosing something. Because it comes down to either picking one or two items I really love. And, I’m pretty sure it’s just going to be one. Again, as a bargain shopper, spending a 50$ gift card on one item is tough. And it’s mostly because I like so many things they have on the site that it sucks I can only choose one.

I am debating heavily…but I’ve wanted this since I went to the store in Philadelphia in March. It’s unique and strange and I tried it on and loved the casual yet sexy feel to it. But I’m wondering if I should go for a pair of these and a v-neck tee, so that I’m not using all the money on one item. Then, there’s always a large selection of these to choose from…Oi yoyoy!

I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my choice.
