Outfit: Friday Family Dinner

slighttweak3

I wore this outfit last Friday to dinner with some of Brad’s family. I can’t stress enough how much I love mismatched patterns. Growing up, everything needed to match. Like, even down to my eyeshadow. Now, I’m all about my outfits possibly not making sense. And let’s face it, mixing patterns has become an acceptable fashion choice. It’s not even about breaking the rules anymore. There are no rules.

The last picture shows a closer look at my ombre nails. It was a feat, and I could do better next time, but I definitely love the color change and can’t wait to try it again with different colors. I had to mix some colors together to make new shades but my primary nail polishes were:
OPI’s Here today, Aragon Tomorrow/Jade is the New Black/Stranger Tides and Sally Hansen’s Mint Sorbet

Some Shots of the Weekend….

I had an excellent weekend. This excellent weekend-having has become a trend, and I’m hoping it doesn’t stop anytime soon.
Saturday was filled with so much laughter, some drinks and food, and an amazing show thanks to Minus the Bear.
I ended my short weekend with a trip to the pumpkin patch with Brad and Jenna, and finished the night with a multi-pack of Woodchuck cider.

The Week Ends

This has definitely been a strange week. They all have been lately. But the weekend is upon us, and I am more than ready. I am going to see Minus the Bear, one of my favorite bands, in Philly on Saturday night. Fun fun fun! For now, I’ll share some of my favorite little moments and pictures from this past week…

On Monday morning, I drove through beautiful fall foliage and came home to beautiful fall decorations outside of my house.

My sister’s boyfriend’s dog stayed at our house this week…it was so fun having a little pup to play with.

Brad and I made Tomato and Bean Stoup and it was amazing, just like the first time. Thanks, Rachael Ray, this is one of my favorites forever. Also, a good glass of milk and some Halloween Oreos for an after-work snack.

I tried my hand (ha ha) at ombre nails this week, much like Lauren Conrad. Green was a tricky choice, but it turned out well for my first time.

I hope y’all have a great weekend! Here’s one of my favorite Minus the Bear songs, in honor of the concert tomorrow!

Outfit Post : Short and Sweet

outfit6

This was my Date Night outfit for Saturday. It was such a lovely time. We started off the evening with reservations at Ipanema Grille. This restaurant is fantastic. The staff is kind and attentive, the Rodizio is to die for (and no food poisoning like Bridesmaids, which I maybe modeled this outfit after a little…), and the grilled pineapple with cinnamon dessert was SO GOOD. Brad and I could’ve probably sat there for another 30-60 minutes just eating different meats and drinking our selected adult beverages (sangria for me, Brazilian beer for him). However, we had other engagements…a showing of 50/50, which I absolutely loved (and cried so much I didn’t look all that great afterwards). We finished it off with a drink at the casino (and I maybe won a little bit of cash).

Anyway, this post is about the outfit. I definitely love this, and I did model the blazer/babydoll dress after Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids. It’s a can’t-go-wrong combo. I am obsessed with over-the-knee socks, and I’ve been looking forward to incorporating them into my wardrobe again. This pair, which my sister got me as a gift this past Christmas, happens to perfectly match this little dress. I finished off the outfit with my pair of Bass Weejuns (my first wear…gonna need some breaking in). So, even though I was channeling Bridesmaids on top, I felt like I was channeling Clueless on the bottom. And there ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Fun Fact about these pictures: We were running late for everything on Saturday, so I actually put the outfit on again on Sunday.
I just loved it that much. I’m a nerd. So there ya go.

“I Enjoy Being a Girl”

I’ve always loved being a girl, but it’s not until these last few years that I truly appreciated it. Does that make sense? Probably not. But I’m talking dresses and skirts, floral and polka dot prints, mascara and lipstick. After years of Parochial schools (meaning uniforms everyday), it took a little while to feel settled in my style. I didn’t know who I was or what I really enjoyed for a long time. Since college, I have grown and changed, and this is by far the girly-est I’ve ever been. I love transforming my face with a little lip color and eyeliner. I love dressing up in thrifted mid-length skirts and tights. I love that I’ve started a weekly ritual of painting my nails.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love dressing in trousers and jeans and blazers and button downs. But all the frills are so much fun.

Outfit: Engagement Shoot Casual

 IMG_0216

I spent my Saturday morning shooting some of my best friends’ engagement photos. I’m very happy to be contributing to their special moment, and the beautiful weather made it that much more awesome. We have some wonderful photos to share but I don’t want to until they see them. Regardless, here is my outfit from the day. The weather was fickle, so I relied on the shorts and sweaters philosophy.

A Beautiful Weekend (in more ways than one)…

We were blessed with positively gorgeous, warm, and clear weather this weekend in NEPA. To up the ante, I also happened to have an incredible weekend, good weather or not. I was blessed with an excellent engagement shoot, a beautiful pair of vintage shoes, the perfect date night with my boo, a portrait shoot, and finding more accoutrements for my Halloween costume (I really hope it turns out well). I have SO MUCH to share with you guys this week, but for now, a little iPhone compilation of the weekend…

I am lucky enough to have this day off. I am so thankful and excited for a shorter week. I have to work Saturday, but it matters very little. I get to see Minus the Bear for the 3rd time…they are one of my favorites! I can’t wait to share more pictures with you!
Here’s to an EXCELLENT week. Enjoy every single day given to you! (I’m trying to lately!)
