Vacation So Far…

Saturday was spent at Mauch Chunk Lake. I’d never been there before, but it’s gorgeous. I’m used to Hickory Run, which I love, but this was 10x bigger, cleaner, nicer, peaceful-er. I hope to get there again before the season’s over…

Last night, Brad and I went for wings and then we went bowling. I love bowling, but it had been a while…so I sucked. But whatever, it’s always fun.

Today, Ed and I went on our 2nd annual (haha) trip to Gyps in Freeland. It’s kind of a disaster area place. Lots of expired food and creepy random trinkets. Always good for a laugh…

Vacation is good so far. Not as sunny as I would like, but it’s been so nice to be home and take my time. I’m not going to want to go back to work. BAH. But I don’t have to worry about work-related things for 3 more days, and even then I’ll only be doing something for like 4 hours. So, whatever. I’ll survive. Let’s just hope everything goes well…

Just a few pictures I like…

Not My News

I got a text from my sister around noon with this picture attached:

mariaandmikey

Yup…Maria met Michael FREAKING Cera. Just walking around Philadelphia. According to her, she took a different route than she normally does and it was basically fate.

I’m jealous of her, because I absolutely love him and pretty much everything he’s ever done. And happy for her because she loves him too! She said he was really nice and…well, this isn’t my story, it’s hers.

I keep telling her to start a blog. She has a cute life in the city/at home and is very creative and artsy, so I really think hers would be something to read. Maybe this experience will be another thing to push her into it, so she can share them with everyone too!

Hayley

hayleynylonI’ve had a girl crush on Hayley Williams for a couple of years now. I think she has an amazing voice (though I also think that Paramore plays pretty generic music that I still sometimes find catchy) and she is pretty much her own person.

And yes, she rocks the red hair.

That’s the thing about fair-skinned people. They can do pretty much any hair color and pull it off. Not that I have a problem with my medium-ish skin tones…it just seems like you’re taking a bigger risk.

Yes, I’d like to be a rockstar.

More Leos

Today is mother’s birthday! Next Monday is my father’s. More on the whole very close together Leo people in my life.

Nothing special happens on birthdays around here. But that’s what’s so great. The birthday girl/guy gets to pick what they want for dinner and dessert and pretty much lounge around all day (if their schedule permits it).

I’m so happy that I’m celebrating my mom’s birthday during my vacation. I don’t get to spend that much time with her balancing work and a social life, so free time around the house is just what the doctor ordered for both of us.

Dad’s making salmon and steak with the most delicious corn on the cob you can find in the area. It’s finally in season here and I couldn’t be more excited. Yum!

Happy birthday mom! Enjoy your day!

Vacation

IMG_6177

So, I’m officially work-free for 9 days! Well, that’s including the weekends (once again, despite that volunteering next Saturday, but that’s only 3 hours out of my open schedule). This is a very good thing.

Unfortunately, starting yesterday (of course), I was having back pains that a lot of people wanted to attribute to kidney stones/problems. I’m keeping my chin up and attributing it to the fact that I sleep in a bed that’s too small and have the worst diet ever. I need to work on that. Let’s hope any sort of real health problems decide to bypass me.

I really need this time to myself. As Tenacious D once said, I’m “searching for inspirado.” Ever have that time in your life when you have no idea what you’re doing/want to do and you’re starting to forget who you are and what you like? And everyone else seems to be doing something awesome or better than you? Okay, maybe it’s just me…but that’s sort of what I’m going through right now.

Not that long ago, I was the girl who carried around at least 2 cameras at once, who had fun plans all the time (even if they were the same things over and over with good people), who felt happy with the season and with life. But then, I think I started to fall into a rut. Work started to stress me out, money started to stress me out, and I lost track of all the things that are actually me. I started looking at everyone else’s life and getting jealous and I hate that feeling more than anything. I’m hoping to get back to that happy me state.

I don’t have many plans but here are some things I want to do on vacation…:

  • Sleep in everyday!
  • Finish rolls of film on each of my cameras and take lots of pictures with the digital.
  • Wear whatever I want all day long
  • Swim with friends
  • Drive around, listen to great music, and go where the day takes me
  • Buy an iPhone 4
  • Travel to New Jersey to see Kings of Leon and tailgate with my bfffff Rafter
  • Clean out my room/closet and give clothes away that I never wear
  • Eat healthier (and for some reason I think the OPPOSITE of this is going to happen)
  • Maybe dye my hair again?

The best part is not really knowing what’s going to happen…just doing it. I hope I get a nice refreshing vacation full of stress-free activities, friendship, freedom, and fun!

Summer Jam

You know that album you come across each year that sort of defines your summer? No matter where you are in your life later, you always remember driving in the car with the windows down, your hair still wet from swimming and your skin all brown from the sun? Best Coast’s Crazy For You has quickly become that record for me.

Best-Coast-Crazy-For-You

I’ll be the first to admit it’s a bit repetitive (I should count how many times she uses the words “want” “crazy” and “lazy”), but it’s so laid back and sunny, and I love Bethany Cosentino’s voice. And I maybe relate to a few of those songs myself…

Oh how I long to be a rockstar…
