Time Out

timeout1timeout2timeout3timeout4

Yesterday, I took a half day from work. I left at noon (which I can do if I get the all-clear and I work the Saturday before) and it was one of the best things I could’ve done for myself. Last week was extremely stressful…I can’t believe I even had a vacation. It’s been non-stop ever since and I feel like I need another already. I plan on scheduling some long weekends, but until then, this little gap in the week was just what the doctor ordered. I made a couple of necessary appointments, ate a sandwich from one of my favorite deli’s, painted my nails (though I ended up settling on much different, brighter colors) and watched some Netflix.

Time-out accomplished.

The Shortest Weekend (Literally)

IMG_0405

Daylight Savings Time definitely has it’s perks. It is going to be so nice to drive home with the sun still shining, longer days, warmer weather ahead. But losing that hour, even though it is just 1 hour, is kinda sucky. Sunday kept slipping through my fingers, and because of the sunshine, it felt earlier than it was. I worked on Saturday, so that was a good chunk of my day, but I had a lovely evening. Maria and I went to dinner (I love sisterly bonding) and then met Brad at a local bar where he was taking photos for a couple of the bands that were playing there. It’s been months since I went to an actual bar. It was fun, but I realized I left with a lot less money than I came…this is why I don’t really like going to bars to drink. I’d rather do a MYO 6 pack or get a bottle of wine and stay in with friends. You don’t have to yell over loud music, you’ll save a ton of money, and you’ll actually get a drink when you want one! It’s also safer…but anyway. I still had a great time!

I’m totally cranky, but work has been sort of busy (stressful, too) but it makes the time go faster.
And, no work this coming weekend! Just gotta keep my chin up. Here’s to a great week for everyone!

(The first photo was taken by Brad with his camera. The others are iPhoners, obviously.)

A Time for Love

loveinlife

Okay, so I don’t find Valentine’s Day to be on the list of important holidays. It makes for some really cute cards and pretty red and pink decorations, but it’s not something that should rule relationships. However, I know we will be reminded and surrounded by its presence for most of this new month (BTW, February already?). What I do find important is expressing and embracing love in our everyday lives.
For those that are lucky to have a beloved, the little surprises, bumps, and triumphs along the way are what stick in your mind.
Not the forced roses or chocolates or jewelry on Valentine’s Day (though it’s a sweet gesture).
But love isn’t just romance. It’s family. It’s friends. It’s your pet. It’s your hobby. It’s your passion. It’s your life.
So I say, let’s embrace the beautiful things we are so very lucky to love in our lives no matter what.
And not just this month…every day.
