Tipsy Tuesday

tipsytuesday

Vacation Tuesday (seems so much longer than a week away) ended up being…pretty interesting. We started the day off sorta early, by vacation standards, and headed to Brad parents’ house to swim for a little with my friend (our friend) Lauren before she headed off to work at 2. It was fun floating and soaking in the sun (I definitely got my tan lines from that day), eating delicious hoagies for lunch, and listening to great music. After Lauren left, Brad and I ran a few errands and then immediately jumped into the pool afterwards. The interest part: I accidentally got a little tipsy. Like, I was floating in the pool, had a SkinnyGirl margarita and felt fine, then dried off to go inside the house and felt wobbly. It snuck up on me! We joined Brad’s parents for dinner (and some Summer Shandys) at a place called the Tipsy Turtle. It was delicious, and I polished off a quesadilla the size of a pizza without uttering a single syllable. By the time we got back to his parents’ house, I was face down on Brad’s childhood bed, fast asleep. Food and Shandy coma, for sure. But worth every second of it.

All photos taken using the Hipstamatic app. Bettie XL lens and Blanko Freedom13 film (for anyone interested).

Fun Underwater

Since Brad and I spend a lot of time swimming in his pool, and are about to head out on our first beach vacation in about 48 hours, we couldn’t pass up this underwater digital camera from Photojojo! For 35 dollars, how can you say no? Though it warned me it wouldn’t ship until mid-July, I received the package in less than a week. We were able to test the camera at the 4th of July party that was sorta rained out on Sunday. Of course, that’s what made it all the more fun!

It’s so freeing to take pictures of all the fun water action without worrying about your camera getting wet. You can just leave it floating in the pool and let everyone grab it and do what they want! It also takes video…no sound, but still pretty great!

Nighttiming

My sister and her boyfriend Josh joined me at Brad’s house for some grillin’ and night swimming. It was, quite honestly, one of the best summer nights I’ve had this year. Brad and I went shopping after my volunteering stint (all went well and fast, but I do have my very first farmer’s tan/burn) and we bought chicken, hot dogs, and salmon, taco dip fixings, fresh green beans, and other green veggies for salad. I didn’t take any pictures of the spread, and I slightly regret that. But at least I have it stored in the hard drive that is my memory.

We didn’t get into the pool until around 8. We were sitting around, drinking Dos Equis and watching funny things online on Brad’s deck. But I’m almost glad we waited. The pool eventually got all lit up, as did his backyard, and it was like swimming/jumping into a huge bathtub. I didn’t want to get out…unless I was jumping back in. Excellent night…can’t believe it was my last full vacation night…

Brad took some really great shots. The second from the bottom is outstanding. In other photography news, I found a link I saved last summer in my bookmarks for a website with beginner’s photography tips. I want to teach myself to use my little point-and-shoot to it’s fullest advantage. And also, really expand my hobby so work is just a thing I do in the day so that I can do whatever I want when I’m not there.
