Labeling

Wine tasting is an excellent activity (can I stress how much I enjoyed this past weekend enough?) and can really help suss out your tastes. I’m still a fairly young “drinker” because I’m only legal for 3 years and spent most of my drinking days with cheap beer. It’s only recently that I’ve opened my palate to fancier beers and wines. And wine is a complicated thing. Dry, Semi-Dry, Sweet, Semi-Sweet, Red, White, Blush, RosĂ©… It’s rather overwhelming. During the course of my 48 hour wine splurge, I realized that, though I don’t enjoy super dry and oak-y wines, I don’t like them too sweet. I do not discriminate by color…I love them all. I also realized that a super cute bottle is often what may ultimately seal the deal. Perhaps that’s judging a book by it’s cover…but often what’s inside is as delectable as the outside.

(Sidebar: I didn’t really have intentions to solely use my iPhone to take photos but I’m glad it’s all I used. It was too icky, rainy, and risky to use my DSLR.
I know it’s been a Hipstamatic overload lately!)

Tagged

As I was unpacking my weekend bag last night (I stayed at Brad’s a little longer than the weekend…), I noticed the cutest tag inside of one of my thrifted sweaters (seen here). Then it dawned on me that most of my thrift store finds have adorable vintage clothing tags. So I rounded up several of my favorites and snapped some shots to share with you!

Dream House

riversideMy cousin is getting married in November, so her fiancĂ©’s parents held an engagement party at their house on the lake in New Jersey. I fell in love instantly. Something about water calms me and makes me feel alive. Not to mention the house itself was gorgeous…
riverside2When we raved about the place (from the location to the decor), her future mother-in-law said she felt so blessed to be able to have such a wonderful house in such a beautiful spot, which I thought was perfect. I love when people are thankful for what they have, especially when it is so amazing. You can tell they worked for it and on it to make it perfect, and I hope it’s not the last time I get to see the place (and maybe one day own a house just like it…).

P.S. That camera below should be coming in the mail sometime next week. Yes, I’ll have 5 cameras. No, I don’t really care. Actually, yes I do. I love it.

Artichoke

When I say long-haired Chihuahua, most people cringe. But if you met Artie, I think you’d change your mind.

I was never a dog person. Actually, I was never a pet person. Maybe it’s because most of the pets I’ve experienced in my young life have been over-excited, jumpy, violent, or bigger than I can handle. Recently, and maybe it’s because I’m getting older and my maternal instincts have been kicking in (haha), I’ve been falling in love with puppies. Personally, I’ve always loved Pugs and English Bulldogs. If I were to get a dog, I’d get something like that. But when I met my sister’s boyfriend’s pup, I fell in love.

The good thing is, the puppies I’ve met recently are well-behaved. They are quiet and loveable. I hate too much barking. I hate too much jumping around. And I hate when they’re big enough to bowl you over. Still, I don’t think I can handle one on my own. I’ll just stick with cuddlin’ up on other people’s puppos.

Live From New York

I have been an on-and-off fan of Saturday Night Live for years now. I first got into it watching reruns on Comedy Central with Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, and Chris Farley in the cast. I thought it was awesome, because at the time they had all become movie stars (Billy Madison and Tommy Boy are two of my all-time favorite comedies). Then I started to watch it live because a lot of actors and musicians (think Freddie Prinze, Jr. and N’Sync) were hosts and musical guests. Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell were favorites in the cast.

They’ve had a lot of on and off iffy moments since then. But this season, I’ve pretty much watched every episode. It isn’t always funny, but a lot of cool celebrities hosted (and I got to look at Taylor Lautner some more!) and I found my new favorite skit:

It doesn’t even have to try and be funny. It just is. And it’s fun too. Klaus Future is a highlight. Check out the other two, there are always random celebrity figures and Kenan rocks it.

But the main point of this is…I have a crush on most of the cast right now. They might not always have me rolling on the floor…but they are all cute! And, in case you haven’t noticed, I have a thing for awkward, nerdy, humorous people. Looks and style are always an initial hook, but I stick because I need to be able to talk about things I enjoy and, more importantly, laugh constantly. And okay, I don’t do that with them. But I believe we’d get along swimmingly…

To me, they are reason enough to keep watching. Or Hulu-ing. Can you imagine a life without Hulu? Because I really can’t.

Oh and, on the subject of crushes, I have an enormous girl crush on Kristen Wiig. I love her on SNL because she isn’t afraid to make herself ugly and go all in for humor…

But she’s cute and has a fun style.

Why can’t dreams come true?

Oooh boy(s). I could go on.

P.S. Check this out. I’ve loved it since high school and I still find it funny. It’s where I got my title from. Watch them all.

A Week of Change

Today was my last day commuting to work 30 minutes away. I am now officially at the Hazleton store. To commemorate the occasion, the traffic on I-81 decided to be the usual bitch and make the commute a whole hour!

Thank God that was the last of it…

Now I have a full week, with work at my new store and the interview and trying to relax and have fun in between and outside all of that. Since I feel that topic is extremely boring, why not make a couple of lists to keep myself occupied…

I would love:

  • a huge diner breakfast or a black jack taco
  • a new digital camera already!
  • a reason to dress up for Halloween
  • to relive some really fun times
  • to visit my sister and friends in Philadelphia
  • a sweet paint job for the Bu’
  • to rearrange my room into the perfect cozy place

I do not love:

  • waiting for the heat to turn on in the car because it’s getting cold again and I’m not ready for it
  • getting back pains and feeling like an old biddy
  • realizing how much you really have to work at being the best you can be
  • being far away from people I want to see

The list of things I love is longer than things I don’t love! YAY!

And…to end this random post…a picture of the cutest bunny ever!
