At the moment…

I have a massive crush on Joseph Gilgun, who plays Rudy on Misfits.

That’s all.

Rose Byrne

I’ve seen Rose Byrne in a few movies and always thought she was beautiful. But, while perusing People: Style Watch yesterday, I realized that she also has an excellent sense of style. Oh dear, how I love fashion. I torture myself too often with magazines and websites with gorgeous articles of clothing in unattainable prices. One day…one day…

Kirsten and Jake

Do you remember when Kirsten and Jake were dating? I know they’ve been apart for a long time, but I saw the cutest picture of them from back in the day (they look so young, but it was 2002-2004 after all) and went on a bit of a Googling spree.

I imagine it’d be hard to find a picture of them together that isn’t cute.
And, even though they are no more, each picture is a pretty great depiction of real, happy, young love.

More Hair Lust and Changes….

(Apologies for the lack of post yesterday. Monday turned out to be an unlucky day filled with car troubles, a sore throat, and various other things not going right. I turned in early to avoid further illness/negativity, though I do seem to be fighting a sort of summer cold. I hate missing blog posts…maybe I’ll make up for it with an extra one later…)

shorthairlust

So the thing is, I basically want to chop all of my hair off. Regular readers have seen stupid hair posts multiple times on the blog and I’m always so indecisive about the whole thing. I’ve done this before, so it’s not like it’s a new thing. It wouldn’t be a huge shock to my system. I am craving the ease. I watch Brad quickly muss his hair up after a shower and I’m jealous and miss the days my getting-ready-procedure was that quick. It’s funny, but the main reason I want super short hair again is because, well…I’m lazy. It’s lovely, yes, but mostly it’s good for someone who hates fussing and fiddling with frizz and unwanted curling. There is a lot of pressure (that I put on myself, really, only) that comes with it though. You have to be confident. There’s nothing to hide behind. So the question is…will I do it? I don’t know. But Carey Mulligan is definitely my pixie lust object. She pulled it off (and is growing it out) perfectly and everything from the cut to the styling has been impeccable and admirable. I only hope if I go through with it, it will look as good as hers.

Unfair.

There’s no better way to say it…Mila Kunis is just plain hot.

Oscars 2011 Recap

I can’t express enough how much I adore the Academy Awards. I don’t make much time for any other award show but this. Even if I haven’t seen half the movies, even if the hosts are lame, even if the people I want to win lose…I love them. I wish there were some reason I’d be able to attend them one day. Perhaps it’s because it seems to be a classy, drama-free and respectful night for the arts. There are puns but hardly any low blows. Everyone is dressed nicely. Everyone claps and supports one another. In an otherwise gossip-filled Hollywood, the Oscars seem to be a positive night for actors. It’s about the work (Okay, and the outfits) for once. But okay, let’s focus on the dresses (there seems to be a running theme of purples and creams).

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab

Should I have saved the best for last? Ehh, whatever. I think it’s safe to say that Mila stole the top spot for Best Dressed on many a list. The moment I saw her, I knew right away. It was a pretty perfect Mila Kunis Oscars dress. It was unlike the rest, sexy, pretty, gorgeous, classy, and show-stealing. She showed a lot of skin/body, but it was still elegant. Loved it.

oscarscate2

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy

There’s something about Cate Blanchett. She is very different, from her facial features to her short hairdo…she can’t just settle for a simple, pretty gown. This has structure and style. It’s classic and gorgeous and formal, but there’s something funky about the shoulders and beading. I don’t know who else would be able to pull this off, but she did, wonderfully.

oscarshailee3

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa

This is the perfect Oscars dress for a 14 year old. I didn’t get to see True Grit yet, but I cannot wait to see Hailee’s performance. The way she handled herself last night was perfect. I hope (and believe) that she will continue to be a classy young lady. This is an adorable tutu-esque dress (that she helped design!) that screams youth and class all at once.

oscarsmichelle4

Michelle Williams in Chanel

Michelle Williams, how desperately you make me want to chop all my hair off again. Unfortunately I don’t think I will look as fantastic and ethereal and delicate as you. This dress was quite simple in its shape, but it complimented her entire look so well. I was jealous of her the whole night.

oscarsnatalie5
Natalie Portman in Rodarte

My girl won last night! Okay, we all saw it coming. She was probably getting sick of making so many acceptance speeches. But good for her! Black Swan was honestly the greatest film she’s ever done, and Nina was by far her best role. I’m glad she is winning for it…it was a once in a lifetime performance. As a huge fan, I’m proud of her. Her dress may not be the flashiest but it’s elegant and it seemed perfect for her ever-growing shape. When she first arrived, she seemed so uncomfortable and her man had to help her on stage, simply because her bump is growing. I’m so glad she had such a perfect maternity dress. A lot of people gave her crap for the Golden Globes Viktor and Rolf gown, and now they can zip their lips.

Now I just need to see a ton of movies. The show was yet another reminder of how pathetically behind I let myself get.

John Krasinski

Jim or not…I have a massive crush on this man.

Emily Blunt is a lucky, lucky gal.

Natalie Portman and Baby Bump Fashion

So, the Golden Globes were last night and I didn’t watch. I’m more of an Oscars gal. But Natalie Portman won and talked about being pregnant a little and looked gorgeous as always. I sure hope she wins the Oscar this year! Anyways, I was watching E! News Sunday morning and it turns out everyone is pregnant. And then I go on some of my regularly frequented blogs and a bunch of those ladies are pregnant. So I’ve become curious about how people dress and show it off/hide it. But it’s so interesting to see what Natalie Portman is doing with her budding baby bump. Obviously, it’s not big yet. And I guess there isn’t much you can do. But she seems to be gearing towards long and flowing or short and almost boxy. Not really defining the area but not hiding it either. Regardless, it’s all gorgeous (shocking).

It seems like 2011 is going to be (already is) Natalie’s year!

Cuts

I’ve been thinking a lot lately, and I miss when I used to get my hair cut all the time. I was all about the short ‘dos in college, but the pixie cut really took it out of me. So, I guess that’s the main reason I’ve been growing my hair. For a while, I really hated my hair and was very insecure because I felt boyish and trapped. I love that it’s growing, and that the possibilities are ever expanding. But I miss the excitement of bringing in a picture and having a whole new look. And Carey Mulligan’s hair makes me miss it even more…

careyshort1 careyshort2careyshort3 careyshort4

It’s not fair how easily, effortlessly, and gorgeously she grew out the pixie she had at the beginning of the year.

If I had this style, I’d dye it a lot. Try different things. Because it would be so short, it wouldn’t matter.

I think I’ll tough it out…grow my hair until the summer of next year or something.
But if I finally get disgusted, I know whose picture I’ll be bringing…

Just another to add to the list.

As an avid fan of True Blood, I watch Anna Paquin on a weekly basis (and sometimes, as with most of the cast, I see a bit much of her). When I first got into the show, I didn’t like her blonde hair. Actually, I didn’t really like her. But I think it just took some getting used to. She rules as Sookie Stackhouse. I can’t imagine anyone else doing it better. And these pictures below are pretty fabulous.

If I were to be lucky enough to become a photographer (if I ever get remotely competent), I would love to do fashion photography. Maybe I should look into this, study it or something. I just love the colors, the contrasts, and the way she makes some simple grocery store aisles look super hot.

And now I think I prefer her with that bombshell blonde hair.

Not My News

I got a text from my sister around noon with this picture attached:

mariaandmikey

Yup…Maria met Michael FREAKING Cera. Just walking around Philadelphia. According to her, she took a different route than she normally does and it was basically fate.

I’m jealous of her, because I absolutely love him and pretty much everything he’s ever done. And happy for her because she loves him too! She said he was really nice and…well, this isn’t my story, it’s hers.

I keep telling her to start a blog. She has a cute life in the city/at home and is very creative and artsy, so I really think hers would be something to read. Maybe this experience will be another thing to push her into it, so she can share them with everyone too!

Hayley

hayleynylonI’ve had a girl crush on Hayley Williams for a couple of years now. I think she has an amazing voice (though I also think that Paramore plays pretty generic music that I still sometimes find catchy) and she is pretty much her own person.

And yes, she rocks the red hair.

That’s the thing about fair-skinned people. They can do pretty much any hair color and pull it off. Not that I have a problem with my medium-ish skin tones…it just seems like you’re taking a bigger risk.

Yes, I’d like to be a rockstar.
