Monday Montage

Unlike most people I know, I wasn’t given a Thanksgiving break (aka Black Friday off). But I did have the whole weekend free and a bunch of PTO stocked up, so I decided to take a belated break and asked for yesterday and today off. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. It started with a surprise party for Brad’s cousin, Christmas shopping, zip lining, and cuddling with Brad, and is ending with so much lounging in PJs, zoning in front of the TV and reading my current book. It is just what the doctor ordered. If only I could relax like this more often!

Brad asked for Monday and Tuesday off like me, but ended up having to do some work today.
So yesterday was our completely work-free workday.
In honor of that, here are some photos I took of our little day of R&R.

Brad and I spent a lot of time in PJ pants and our super comfy socks from Old Navy.
Cali all sleepy, guarding the top of the stairs.
We had dinner at 12:30 a.m. Monday morning. Brad made pork chops and apples. So good. And why not eat late? It’s vacation!
The only time we got out was to take a nice, long walk around the neighborhood. Foliage is basically gone, except for some headstrong leaves.
Christmas decorations popping up!
Dairy Queen is closed. No need for ice cream when it starts to get icy!

I’m in a totally happy place.
Usually I’d be completely bummed about going back to work, but I feel so renewed and refreshed, I’m ready.
Plus, it’s a short week. Not too shabby!

Weekend

010

This picture is the most accurate portrayal of this past weekend.
Yesterday was super busy (a bridal shower, a wake, and a church bazaar all in one day), but I worked Saturday and spent the rest of the day napping on and off, finishing my book, and eating 3 cotton candy popsicles (Philly Swirl SwirlStix…$1 for a box on sale!).

I have a bunch of pictures to share of the bridal shower I attended, and a few other things throughout the week, but I figured I’d ease into this week with a simple post. It’s been 3 weeks since I worked on a Saturday, and I forgot how terribly annoying it is.
Especially when you literally only have half a day to yourself without plans (no matter how fun those plans may be!).
I'm bummed that it’s Monday already, but I’ll be counting down the days ‘til the next weekend and enjoying what I can of the days!

Have a happy Monday!

A Forget-that-it’s-Monday Happy List

Well, another weekend is over. It’s back to the work grind…waiting for another weekend (unless you’re lucky to be on vacation this week, of course!). I am up to my ears in laundry, pinching pennies while still trying to have fun, awaiting the next time I get to see Brad, and trying desperately to figure out what I want to do with my life. It’s so easy to get funky and discouraged at the beginning of a new week, and that’s exactly why a happy list is necessary. Focusing on the good stuff (which is always there, despite 8 hour or more workday) is certainly a great kickoff to the week ahead. Here we go….

The Mediterranean Olive Bar at Wegmans…I love the kalamata olives and the green olives stuffed with feta
Late night movie dates
Dale Earnhart Jr.Jr.
Swimming until I’m prune-y
Date nights that end with beers and a gorgeous night swim in a pool as warm as a tub
A perfect navy and white polka dot mid-length skirt 50% found at Salvation Army (That’s 2.50$ folks!)
Getting comfortable in heels. (I’ve been starting slow with wedges…)
Cooking and plotting what to make for dinner
Reading. I am trying to never be without a book. I’m currently reading this, and I have my next two lined up already (this and this). I so wish I had a little book club with all the reading I’ve been doing!
OPI’s No Room for the Blues polish on my toesies
Love. Being in love. I’m blessed.

A cute picture I took of the garden at Brad’s house during vacation.
It was a peaceful morning and Brad was still sleeping so I drank a Chai Latte and sat in the yard with my feet in the pool.
Beautiful way to start a day.

Here’s to an excellent week ahead!

Fiesta

I’ve defended my good old Buick since I was given the thing 3 years ago. I adore my car. There have been some issues and, let’s face it, it kind of is starting to look like utter crap. But I’ve been thankful for the beast, as it really is my ticket to freedom. Unfortunately, and quite suddenly, I’ve been hit with the desire for a new car.

I don’t really have the funds to do such a thing, but as my dad knows the ins and outs of the car business (because he’s been working at dealerships for most of my life), I decided to ask him what I should do.

I probably won’t be getting one until maybe next year. Maybe. But he brought my attention to the Ford Fiesta. And I sorta instantly fell in love. And when I fall for things like this (as I did with my iPhone), I get super-excited and I try and find everyway in my power to make it possible.

So that’s that. Looks like I’m going to have to start saving even more than I have been. Less frivolous spending. I will have a Fiesta, I will, I will.

I don’t want this color, but they are promoting the shit out of it. I do prefer a 4 door hatchback though.

Blah-day

Seriously, why do Mondays pretty much always suck? Don’t get me wrong, if it’s a day off or there is beautiful weather it can be great. But for the most part, it’s usually crappy.

I had every intention of doing laundry (which I’ll still probably will do), cleaning my room, and staying active.

Instead, I threw on some sweats, considered a rather large bowl of Crispix my dinner, and fell asleep briefly while watching Greek on Hulu.

Oh yes, folks.
Welcome to the awesomeness that is MY LIFE!

Monday Monday.

I don't like Mondays.
How cliche right?
I have one class, but having work at night always drags me down.
Especially since things are slowly starting to pick up weather wise.

Been thinking of this outfit for a while...this polka-dot leotard complete with snap-crotch has been sitting in my dresser since I purchased it at Volunteers of America (after a thorough washing, of course) and I've been dying to wear it. I'm obsessed with the idea of a leotard now. Which is why I still want this.

Leotard - thrifted
Sweater - Target
Skirt - Pac Sun (One of 4 I bought for 3 bucks a piece!)
Tights and Shoes - Wal-Mart
