I’m Good, I’m Gone

I really like this song. It’s not so new, but this is a great interpretation of it. I like when artists can strip down their songs and they are just as fantastic. And I appreciate truly good female singers. There are too many lip synchers and sing-talkers out there. This is where it’s at.

My Sunday via Hipstamatic

I decided to document the activities of this Sunday, December 19th, via the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. Ok, I didn’t really do anything special. But here it is…

  1. My first plate of food at lunch at our favorite Chinese buffet.
  2. Ice cream dessert.
  3. Fortune cookie.
  4. Brad driving us to the movie theaters. It’s a 20 minute trek from his house to Cinemark, and even longer when I come from home. I (half)jokingly threatened to play Paramore on the way there, but he seemed pained. And then they ended up playing on the radio anyway. It was amazing.
  5. Cinemark. Even though it takes a little while to get there and we both have theaters so close, this is pretty much the only place that gets the smaller movies (even if they are bigger in their small-ness).
  6. Brad’s feet as we stood in Cinemark.
  7. Two tickets to Black Swan. (More to say on that later…)
  8. We were surprised to see a sunset when we came out. Both of us expected to see pitch black skies.
  9. Dinner = our favorite chicken nachos at one of the restaurants in the casino. They are to die for and I am craving them still…

OK…so I apparently ate…a lot. My goal was to use the “Shake to Randomize” option and stick with whatever the first picture gave me. And I did. Which meant more black and white then I would like (I didn’t want any…but oh well). It was a nice Sunday, given the nature of the rest of the weekend. Not saying it was bad, but I had a bit of bad luck on Saturday, and I was still getting over my cold. But that day ended with my work’s Christmas party so: an open bar, delicious (free) dinner, and dancing.

All’s well that end’s well.

7 Days…

It’s Christmas in a week, you guys!

So, I’ve been listening to Christmas music non-stop (it’s on all day at work), done quite a bit of present shopping, and the tree and lights are all set up at the house. And yet I still don’t fully feel in the holiday spirit. Am I crazy?

Perhaps this is what it’s like when you grow up. Obviously, there’s no Santa to believe in anymore. And you don’t get as many presents. But I always have more fun giving anyways. Seriously, it’s the best to see someone unwrap this present you felt suited that person. And hopefully they enjoy it!

Maybe this upcoming week will cement the mood for me.
And it will be nice to have a shorter work week (not by much, but I suppose we take what we can get).

BFFFFFFFFFF

Yes, one of my best friends is a boy. And I miss him so much. Rafter is currently recovering from some surgery. He lives in New Jersey. And I desperately wish I was there watching cheesy movies and laughing forever with him…

Damn this crazy life and schedule. I’d honestly road trip right away if I could. For some reason, as I was posting these pictures, this song popped into my head. I am only 23 years old but I’ve never felt so old and boring. I hate that. I was a fun person!

But luckily, whenever I’m with someone like Rafter…I feel like a 23 year old again. And that makes me happy…

(Even though it isn’t as often as it should be or as often as I’d like…damn, I need to change some things in my life.)

Appetite

I like food…a lot. Eating is probably the best part(s) of my day. Is that sad? I don’t really care! I’m proud of my appetite. I will never be a light eater. In fact, the only time I can’t eat is when I’m anxious or upset. And I don’t like being either of those things.

I want to eat healthier…but I like me some hearty (and possibly gross?) food. Currently, I’m remembering and salivating at the thought of Shake Shack. My friend Lauren, who recently moved to NY state, recommended the place after she spent a weekend in the city. I am so glad she did, and I plan on eating there again, hopefully soon.

Mmm…the burgers…the Arnold Palmer…the CHEESE FRIES. I’m cravin’. Hope you enjoyed the food porn. I’m hungry for sure now.

If you are near a Shake Shack, enjoy something for me!

Update

bangsies

I am aware this isn’t the greatest picture, but I got bangs last night. Still getting used to them. But I’ve been wanting to for a while, and it’s a great way to change up your hair without lobbing all of it off.

Unfortunately, I also got a cold in the process of all this. You should see my bag…it’s like a pharmacy. Currently rocking:

  1. Rite Aid’s answer to Cold-Eeze
  2. Halls Breezers cough drops
  3. Mucinex
  4. Saline Nose Spray (I always have that stuff in there, though, especially since the surgery…)
  5. A little bag of multivitamins

Mind you, I don’t have much else in my bag. So, it’s a pretty depressing sight.

But all I care about is kicking this thing in the ass. I’m hoping to be able to breathe through my nose again by Saturday.

If you have a cold, too, just know I’m on your side. (Oh, and I highly recommend anything loaded with Zinc, such as the Cold-Eeze.)

Winter Sounds…

My musical tastes remain the same…but often times, I have certain genres for the changing seasons. This summer was all about sunny stoner rock (Hello, Best Coast) and chillwave (I still love you, Toro y Moi!!). But, as the nights grow longer and colder, I settle into the mellow and acoustic…the sorrowful and soulful. Bon Iver easily fits into that category.

I prefer the album version of this song, but this is a lovely little performance. Justin Vernon’s voice is very interesting. Perhaps an acquired taste. But it fits the music, and mood, so very well.
